Emily Simpson Says She’s Considered a Fitness Competition

There’s no question that Emily Simpson’s fitness journey has inspired and motivated countless fans.
Over the past nine months, The Real Housewives of Orange County mom has consistently taken to Instagram to share her workout routines, new eating habits, and everyday self-care practices. While her dedication and transparency have been met with positive feedback, they’ve also sparked questions from those looking to make a similar life change. And thankfully for fans, Emily isn’t afraid to tackle those inquiries.
On Saturday, September 2, the OC attorney conducted another Q&A session in which she answered questions from her Instagram followers. While some of the submissions involved her family life, friendships, and RHOC castmates, the majority of them focused on health and fitness, like how her exercise regimen has changed over the past year and whether or not she tracks her macros.
Emily Simpson’s Lifestyle Changes
“I’ve always worked out (except while filming last season I didn’t work out once and I’ll never do that again),” she wrote. “I used to work out 3-4 times a week. I walked a lot. Mostly lifted light weights. Now I work out 6-7 times a week. I always start with 20-30 minute of cardio on the elliptical (level 10) and then about an hour of weight lifting.”
Emily was then asked which factor played the biggest role in her body transformation: diet or exercise. Emily said it was the former, as she spent years working out but didn’t see a physical difference until she improved her eating habits.
“Change your diet. Change your life,” she replied.
Is Emily Simpson coming for Tamra Judge’s fitness “crown”?
As the session continued, another user asked Emily if she has ever considered doing a physique exhibition like her RHOC castmate Tamra Judge.
“Have you thought about a fitness competition,” they wrote. “Take Tamras crown?”
Emily’s response? “Yes… I’ve pondered it.”
The judging criteria for fitness competitions vary from event to event, but they’re generally based on muscle definition, body symmetry, poise, and size.
It’s unclear if the OC mom has sought Tamra’s advice about possibly entering a competition, but it’s safe to assume Tamra would urge against it.
Will Tamra Judge ever return to competitive fitness?
Tamra’s passion for fitness has been well documented on RHOC. In addition to opening her own gym, CUT Fitness, she has also entered multiple bodybuilding contests. The mother of four made her fitness pageant debut in 2016 and ultimately walked away with the first-place trophy. Although she had a lot of success in the competitive fitness world, she recently told BravoTV.com that she has no interest in revisiting the sport.
“No no no no no,” she said when asked about a potential return. “I like to train like that, but I don’t want to restrict my calories. It’s a very dangerous sport. When I did go through it, it really knocked my hormones out of whack […] so I just don’t want to go through that again. It’s not a healthy sport.”
